Dyslexia in and of itself is already misunderstood. So, when you tell people that having trouble with math is NOT dyslexia, but most likely Dyscalculia, the misunderstandings get deeper and deeper. (In my head, it’s at this point in the conversation that the other person lets out an audible sound like Tim the Tool Man Taylor’s from Home Improvement. That odd, grunt of confusion he used to always do. But I digress…)
Never fear, though! Understood.org has put together a really great chart to help identity, understand, and help with remediation. It breaks down dyslexia, as well as dyscalculia, in a simple, but really beneficial way.
