Dyslexia: Like Parent, Like Child. Genetics and Dyslexia

Like father, like son. We’ve all heard it. Who knew it could be so true?

Have you ever wondered if dyslexia is genetic? Or perhaps have you ever had a conversation with someone about dyslexia, and as soon as they start to understand the signs of it, they immediately reference other family members who they now suspect may have dyslexia? You’re not alone.

As the following article, posted on understood.org by Nelson Dorta, PhD., will explain so well, the short answer is, “Yes, it is genetic.” However, there’s more to it, so be sure to check out this article and bolster your understanding of how genetics factor in, but aren’t the only factor.

Happy educating!
